All Temporal Things Fade
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever" (Is 40:8).
If one lives long enough, they witness changes in all things. I just heard this morning on the news that stores were stopping the sell of CD's. We live in a digital world. But look at the audio evolution: 78 LP records, 33 1/3 LP records, 45 records, 8-track, cassettes, and CDs.
What's next? Something else "BlueTooth" or a chip in your ear or head, "What did you say?" The point is all things change and are temporary. We live in a "throw-away" world. Why buy batteries? The batteries cost more than the cheap flashlight that includes batteries.
So, as we look beyond the temporary, where can we find the eternal unchanging stability? The Bible, yes the Word of God! You say, "Well, I don't believe that or it's unreliable also." Really? For over 4,000 years people have question the reliability of the Bible. But there has not been discovered one piece of pottery or one coin that disproves anything about the Bible. In fact, everything that has been covered has just gone to reinforce scripture.
So the Bible offers stable, insightful, eternal truth. God loved us "before us existed." You see there's nothing I can do to make God love me more and nothing I can do to make God love me less.
I love flowers, but they fade and die. I will love God and His Word.... they are eternally true. Hallelujah!
