"Way Maker"

What ever happened to maps? Today, with GPS, smart phone apps and the other helpful technologies most people do not use or need a physical map. Unless, there is no signal for your device. Then, your directional search will be spinning like your device.

The same is true in our lives. We need a directional signal from the Lord to know which direction to go. One time my wife and I were traveling on some ""back roads" in Tennessee and got lost. Our IPhones had no signal. We didn't have a physical map and we did not know which way to go to reach the interstate.

Finally, we stopped at a crossroads and watched for a few minutes. We noticed trucks were turning a certain direction and we decided to follow those working trucks. That was a correct decision, because those trucks were taking the road to the main highway. We didn't stop them and ask, we just followed their direction.

Rick Warren writes in Purpose Driven Life "it's not about you, it's all about God." John the Baptist proclaimed "a voice of one calling in the wilderness; prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him" (Mark 1:3). Just as John the Baptist was a "Way Maker" for Jesus Christ, we need to seek the signal from the Lord to be a "Way Maker" also.

I need to constantly seek God's purpose in my life. At the same time, I should be a good Christian example to others. As I am a good influence on others, I am "making a way" for the Lord in their lives.

Just as John the Baptist allow God to use his life as a "Way Maker", we need to allow God to use our witness to be a "Way Maker" in the lives of others. By the way, now

we have placed a physical map in the car for the next time we don't have a signal. As Christians, we should carry God's road map in our hearts, His Word.
